Job Opportunity

Tracks by PRN is a family outreach program working with young adults and families. We are
currently searching for a live-in mentor to work with a eighteen year old young man
transitioning to his own apartment from a residential setting, needing added support and
direction in order to develop life goals. (SLC area) We would prefer a social work or psychology
graduate student, with some experience working with young adults and families, however; we
are willing to provide training to a motivated individual. A one-year commitment is required.
Supervision will be provided both in person and by telephone.

Basic Job Description – Mentor
To provide guidance and supervision, and to act as a positive adult role model to this client. To
assist client with organization of assignments and materials, calendar planning, time
management, home management skills, and the job application process, to include resume
building, job interviews and applications. Additionally, must be proficient in independent
skills to include budgeting, money management, shopping, and cooking. To assist family
consultant in delivering didactic and experiential education sessions that teach daily living
skills, social skills, cognitive restructuring, building self-confidence, motivational skills,
alternative coping skills and other skills as needed. To work in collaboration with biological
parents and family consultant in all aspects of duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
1. Use of a conceptual framework for human development and related problems.
2. Ability to develop alliances and maintain appropriate boundaries.
3. Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally and use e-mail, text messages,
social networking websites.
4. Excellent organizational skills; familiarity with systems to assist individuals with community
resources / special needs a plus;
5. Knowledge of and understanding of the federal confidentiality requirements.
6. Ability to provide transportation to the client.

Hours/Compensation:
Full-time live-in position, some weekend availability, days and hours totally negotiable and
tailored around students schedule. Time commitment is not expected to be onerous, ability to
work another job during the day. We would be willing to consider an internship, if not; this is a
regular paid position to include free room/board and all living expenses, a weekly stipend will
also be negotiated ranging from $500+ per week dependent on skills and experience.

Other Requirements: 1.Must be willing to submit for fingerprinting and a background criminal
check. 2. Valid driver’s license, good driving record and insurance.
