The University of Utah, College of Social Work invites applications for one full-time, 12-month Career-line faculty/ administrative position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Lecturer.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Social Work or related field, an MSW from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program (or foreign equivalency approved by CSWE), 5-10 years post-MSW direct social work practice experience, and a clinical license in social work. Applicants must also have an established record of professional accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, and service that are commensurate with rank; experience in program development and administration including leading culturally competent curriculum development efforts; chairing committees/teams; developing field education; monitoring student development; designing/refining student-oriented program policies; and managing program budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:  Applicants have demonstrated leadership in international and cross-cultural program development, leadership in professional organizations, university/college committees, and community service, demonstrated experience and focus within the BSW Program’s paradigms of community-based action program development and research, as well as outreach to marginalized communities, including aboriginal and native peoples, rural communities, and refugees. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with current BSW faculty are also preferred.

Responsibilities:  The BSW Program Asia Campus Coordinator will be responsible for establishing undergraduate social work classes at the University of Utah campus in Songdo, South Korea. A variety of skills and knowledge is required for the position, which will include the following responsibilities: Developing and reviewing curriculum to ensure classes will meet licensure requirements of the Korean Association of Social Work (KASW), ensuring the program operates in compliance with CSWE accreditation standards for BSW-level programs, coordinating classroom and teaching assignments, represent the BSW Program at meetings with Songdo Global University administration, develop instructional design and learning strategies with sensitivity to Korean culture, locate and approve potential practicum sites Responsibilities also include recruitment, orienting, and mentoring students, orienting and training agency field instructors, adjunct faculty, and visiting faculty, plus developing and maintaining a policy manual. The coordinator will manage activities of the BSW Program at the Asia Campus and must be prepared to be on the ground in Songdo, South Korea on July 1, 2014.

The Asia Campus Coordinator will hold a Career-line (i.e., non-tenure-line) Lecturer faculty position at the University of Utah and will typically teach four to six courses per year depending upon workload. This is a 12-month faculty/administrative position (for two years in total) where the emphasis will be placed upon participation as a team member in building and maintaining the BSW Program at the Asia Campus. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Social Work, and will coordinate efforts with the BSW Program Director. The Coordinator engages in program development, teaching, and scholarship, and serves the BSW Program, the College of Social Work, the University of Utah, and the professional community in Korea. In particular, the Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with diverse agencies in Korea, monitoring and allocating program resources in an efficient manner, and recruiting and mentoring BSW students.

College, University, and Environment:  The Songdo Global University Campus (SGUC) was established with the aim of producing next-generation global talent that will lead Korea’s industries based on knowledge, culture, and arts. The University of Utah is one of the founding institutions of  SGUC, and the College of Social Work’s BSW Program will be one of the first U of U programs to be launched at the Asia Campus.
