PT Outreach Specialist at the Asian Association of Utah

Salary: $7800.00 Plus Education Award
Job Description: The Refugee & Immigrant Center at Asian Association of Utah (RIC-AAU) seeks one part-time AmeriCorps member to fill the position of Interpreting Outreach Specialist.
The Interpreting Outreach Specialist position involves the member working closely with refugee community organizations, service providers and partnering agencies to recruit interpreters for RIC-AAU’s Interpreting Program. The member will be responsible for screening, training and testing candidates for placement into RIC-AAU’s Interpreting Program pool of on-call translators and interpreters. The Interpreting Outreach Specialist will especially be seeking those who speak the Arabic, Dinka, Swahili, Karen, Karenni, Farsi and Spanish languages, among many others. This position is not being performed by other staff and does not replace or displace current staff. The Interpreting Program Supervisor will supervise this member.
Preference will be given to applicants that have a college degree. A High School diploma is required.
There is a yearly living allowance of $7,800 that will be paid twice a month over the course of a year. Health and Dental Care are also available (subject to eligibility).
This is a one year contract/commitment of 920 hours.
This is a Part Time position of 22 hours a week M-F
Upon Successful completion of the 920 hours & satisfactory fulfilment of your one year contract you would be eligible for an Education award of $2822.50 in which you may use to either further your education or pay for previously accrued student loans.
Position to start Oct. 1, 2013. Contract term runs Oct. 1, 2013 – Sept. 30, 2014.
